- Effort to Combat Human Trafficking Seeks Place on November Ballot in California
San Francisco, CA – Advocates, political leaders and survivors gathered in San Francisco today to formally kickoff the campaign to gather the 800,000 signatures needed to put the CASE Act on the ballot this November. The Californians Against Sexual Exploitation Act (CASE Act) will increase penalties and fines for those who engage in human trafficking, provide new restrictions for those convicted of these crimes, and mandate new law enforcement training to ensure proper enforcement and sensitivity for victims across the justice system. “Trade of Innocents: A Global Perspective on Human Trafficking” will be held at Yale Law School April 12-13, 2012
A symposium titled “Trade of Innocents: A Global Perspective on Human Trafficking” will be held at Yale Law School April 12-13, 2012. The symposium will feature an exclusive, advance screening of the film, Trade of Innocents, which stars Dermot Mulroney and Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino. The event is being organized in conjunction with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the film’s producers. It is free and open to the Yale community and the public.
